The contents of this blog are purely theoretical. There could a million explanations for beautiful artwork. This blog just tells you one of those million interpretations.

Billie Eilish

Origination

The idea of black tears for the video When the party’s over came from a fan artwork to Billie. She saw the artwork and got inspired for how her video should look, visually. Most of Billie’s video have always been on somewhat darker side this video is no different.

Fan Artwork

Interpretation

The video starts with Billie sitting in a chair wearing all white and some chains giving off a hip hop vibe. She has a glass of black mysterious substance in front of her. Now given the lyrics of the song the substance could be her feel or all the bad shit that happens to her.

When the video starts she speaks about some hurtful things that have happened to her but here’s the thing she is not lip syncing to it. Which means that all those feelings are in the glass. Then she says “I could lie and say I like it like that” while looking at the glass, here she is actually talking to her feelings.

After she chugs down the glass the lyrics says “Don’t you know too much already” this could mean that now she knows everything that she chugged down. A few minutes later she starts crying with black tears on the lyrics “Quiet when I am coming home”. The dripping of tears symbolising that she couldn’t hold on to her feelings to all the things that she knows now. She could lie about how she feels but nothing will make it better.

She wipes her tears and says “Lets just let it go”, symbolically speaking she wants to move on. But her black tears starts rolling down the floor she can’t contain it anymore. The song ends with her saying “I could lie say I like it like that” which means everything is such a mess she might just lie.

Did you know?

Billie Eilish’s songs are always presented in such a way that fans can actually feel whatever she’s feeling in the video. A lot of fans made comments like “I could actually feel her pain” for ‘When the Party’s over’ video.

Billie Eilish was 16 year old when she shot this video. At the time she wasn’t opposed to the idea of fame however if you talk to her now she is tired of being famous. She has explicitly said so in all her interviews. Don’t worry she won’t stop creating music. Just don’t go all fanboy over Billie when you see her 💁.

Well Hung Lover by Banksy

Well Hung Lover- By Banksy

About Banksy

Banksy is an anonymous England-based street artist. His satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine dark humour  with graffiti executed in a distinctive stencilling technique. He showcases his art on walls, self built physical props. Banksy used to sell his photographs and artwork, he no longer does that. Banksy’s inspiration was 3D, a Graffiti artist.

Interpretation

Well Hung Lover is also called as Naked Man. The graffiti was painted on the side of a sexual health clinic. In retrospect it’s actually quite funny, the mural. It depicts a naked man hanging from a windowsill, looking out of the window are two people: a suited man on the left, and a woman in  lingerie on the right, touching his shoulder.

Speaks about how the woman could be having an affair. The husband who has his suspicions deliberately turns blind to this affair because he does not intend to lose his partner. Since the mural is painted on the wall of a sexual health clinic. Another interpretation could be how uninformed we want to remain about our sexual problems, the man in suit knows he can’t satisfy her and he is not ready to face the consequences of that dissatisfaction.

About the mural.

Most of all Banksy’s murals weren’t legal at first but later due to popularity they were made legal. Well Hung Man was the first legal piece of street art in the UK. The mural was defaced after a very short period of time by seven blue paintballs. Some of the painting was recovered but the rest is as we see.

Starry Night

By Vincent Van Gogh

History of Van Gogh and his painting.

Vincent Van Gogh was a famous Dutch artist who was not appreciated in his own time. It wasn’t just people around him who thought he was insane. Even the critics at that time thought the heavy brush strokes and bright colours, also somewhat sloppiness of his paintings indicated that the artist had issues.

Some of us know him as the creator of this painting(Starry Night) and few of us know him as the artist who cut his ear off. Starry Night was painted in 1889 from Arles mental asylum where Van Gogh spent last of his years. The painting is now famously known for habituating Expressionism which was not understood by a lot of people back then. It was a painting of Van Gogh’s view from the asylum with the meadows and stars, village being imaginary.

Interpretation

The most accepted interpretation of this painting is the biblical one. Which says that the 11 stars in painting is directly related to the bible verse of Genesis 37:9. In this verse Joseph indicated that he was an outcast and a dreamer out of all his 11 brothers, that one day the table would turn and he too will be noticed. There is no way of knowing what Van Gogh originally intended of the painting he could have intended Starry Night as a personal statement to his own poor reception as an artist. Although Van Gogh died as an ungracious artist, him and his work did truly receive recognition later on.

Maybe we all sometimes feel like Van Gogh, as our creations go unrecognised. The crazy strokes symbolising where our heads are at.In the end of course we can not ignore the most obvious fact about the painting that the aspects of this painting are trippy at every level
